The old Sears site

The 10.8-acre Sears parcel is owned by Seritage. In September 2020, the County Planning Board approved a plan amendment, after the City recommended it, that allows homes, a hotel of up to 150 rooms, retail and optional office. The City’s condition caps housing at 600 units. The project still needs more approvals before anything gets built, and the City lists no recent activity. More on Bowie development.
