Bowie homes with an assumable VA loan

How an assumption works
You still qualify with the loan servicer. You cover the gap between the price and the loan balance, in cash or with a second loan. If you’re a veteran, you can substitute your own VA entitlement so the seller gets theirs back. Expect it to take longer than a new loan, so start early.

Fort Meade and NSA
Belair and northern Bowie are usually the shortest drive, north on Route 197 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. See the military hub for base pages.

Southern Bowie, Mitchellville and Woodmore put you closest, south on Route 301 or west to the Capital Beltway.
The Pentagon and DC
Fairwood and western Bowie have the quickest access to Route 50. The MARC Penn Line stops at Bowie State, and Metro at New Carrollton and Largo is a short drive.
