Whitehall, Bowie: Later Levitt Homes North of Annapolis Road

Whitehall went up between 1964 and 1968 with its own swim club, its own elementary school site and W street names. In 2026 it sold more often than any other single Belair section.

Whitehall recorded 12 closed sales at a $520,000 median in Bright MLS data, April to September 2026, the most sales of any individual Belair section and the second highest section median after Somerset. It is one of the later Levitt sections, built between 1964 and 1968 north of Annapolis Road.

Like every Belair section, its streets start with its letter. Woodhaven Lane and Whitehall Drive are Whitehall addresses.

Where is Whitehall?

The Historic American Buildings Survey says more than half of Belair lies north of MD 450 (Annapolis Road) and east of MD 197, spreading northeast from that intersection, and lists Whitehall among the eight sections built there from 1964 to 1968. Old Chapel Road runs through the area. The City places Whitehall in Council District 1 with Chapel Forge, Idlewild, Overbrook, Rockledge, Yorktown, Victoria Heights and Meadowbrook (North and East).

Whitehall is inside the City of Bowie, so you get Bowie Police, twice weekly City trash pickup and City leaf collection.

What are the houses like?

Whitehall was sold after Levitt renamed its line in 1964, so original paperwork uses the newer names: the Ardsley (the Cape), the Buckingham (the Rancher) and its Devon variant, and the Cambridge and Gladstone Colonials. The small one-story Kensington was offered only in 1967 and 1968, so a few later Whitehall streets may have one. Original Levitt lots generally measured about 8,400 square feet; confirm the lot on SDAT.

The Whitehall swim club

Levitt built three swim clubs in Belair with identical facilities. The third opened in 1966 on Old Chapel Road in the Whitehall section, according to HABS. Today the private Whitehall Pool and Tennis Club operates in the section, with a 25 meter, six lane pool, a shallow area with a slide, diving boards, a baby pool, and tennis, pickleball, basketball and volleyball. Membership is separate from your home purchase, so check the club directly for dues and openings.

Water, taxes and HOA

Whitehall is on the City of Bowie water and sewer system (fiscal 2026: $7.11 per thousand gallons for water, $10.20 for sewer). There is no mandatory HOA. The City property tax rises from $0.40 to $0.58 per $100 for fiscal 2027; on a $450,000 assessment that is $810 a year more on the City line. Our property tax guide shows the math.

Which schools serve Whitehall?

Whitehall Elementary is in the section at 3901 Woodhaven Lane (301-805-1000). In 2023 Maryland named it an Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) school, its second such designation, according to PGCPS. That is a recognition of its gifted programming, not a boundary guarantee.

Assignments are by address, so enter the exact street address in the PGCPS School Finder and save a dated screenshot. For data on any school, read its page on the Maryland School Report Card site. See our Bowie schools guide.

What is nearby?

Bowie High School is at 15200 Annapolis Road, and the Belair Swim and Racquet Club sits at 12728 Midwood Lane in Meadowbrook. Annapolis Road shopping is a short drive south. MD 197 leads north toward Laurel, Route 32 and Fort Meade, and south to Route 50. The City-owned Bowie Golf Course is at 7420 Laurel Bowie Road. See our commuting guide and parks guide.

Before you buy

These are pre-1978 homes: expect the lead paint disclosure, and inspect plumbing, the panel, moisture, windows and additions. Inside the City, larger fences and sheds need a City permit too.
