Pointer Ridge, Bowie MD: Homes, Swim Club and 2026 Prices

A South Bowie neighborhood from the 1968 Belair Village annexation, with lettered P streets, quarter acre lots and its own member-owned swim club. One of Bowie's busiest subdivisions in 2026.

Pointer Ridge recorded 21 closed sales between April and September 2026, the most of any named neighborhood we track outside the Belair sections, at a $490,000 median and just 10 median days on market. Its streets mostly start with P, from Pointer Ridge Drive to Poole Lane and Parkington Lane, the same lettered-street habit the original Levitt sections use.

Where is Pointer Ridge, and when was it built?

Pointer Ridge is in South Bowie, ZIP 20716, near Route 301 and Route 50, and the City lists it in Council District 4. Its roots are in Belair Village: in 1968 a 2,400 acre tract was annexed into the City for a planned community of nine villages with a commercial center, a large park and a lake. A 1999 State Highway Administration community summary names Pointer Ridge among those villages, along with Amber Meadows, Northview, Evergreen Estates, Pin Oak Village, Glen Allen and Covington.

That history still shows up on paper. Many property records carry the legal subdivision name "Pointer Ridge at Belair Village," and building dates run from the late 1960s (a house on Pointer Ridge Drive dates to 1968) through the 1970s and 1980s.

What kinds of homes are in Pointer Ridge?

Expect Ranchers and ramblers, split-levels and Colonials, with some Cape Cods, on lots of about a quarter to a third of an acre. A typical 1968 house on Pointer Ridge Drive has about 1,600 square feet on a 0.28 acre lot. Some townhouse sections also use the Pointer Ridge name, so check the property type when you search.

What is the Pointer Ridge Swim and Racquet Club?

It is a member-owned, nonprofit summer swim club at 16505 Poole Lane, founded in 1969. A 2025 state bond request describes three pools (including a 6-lane lap pool, a wading pool and a diving well), a water slide and four tennis courts. The 2026 season ran from May 23 to September 7, and entry requires membership; contact the club at 301-249-9832 for current dues. The same filing asked for $400,000 toward pool plaster, circulation, filtration and accessibility upgrades.

For public recreation, Allen Pond Park, the City's 85 acre flagship with the ice arena, a stocked pond and the summer amphitheater, is a short drive north. See our Bowie parks guide.
