Northview, Bowie MD: Homes Next to Allen Pond Park
A 1970s Belair Village neighborhood on lettered N streets, a mile from Route 50 and Bowie Town Center, with Allen Pond Park on Northview Drive. In 2026 it was one of the fastest selling sections in Bowie.
Northview homes sold in a median of 7 days between April and September 2026, tied with Foxhill for the fastest in Bowie, at a $480,000 median. The neighborhood's main road does a lot of work: Northview Drive carries the main entrance to Allen Pond Park (3330), the City's dog park (3600) and Northview Elementary (3700), and the City lists a bus park and ride on the same road.
Where is Northview, and when was it built?
Northview sits in ZIP 20716, about a mile from Route 50 and Bowie Town Center, and the City lists it in Council District 3. It began as one of the villages of Belair Village: in 1968 a 2,400 acre tract was annexed into the City for a planned community of nine villages with a commercial center, a large park and a lake, and a 1999 State Highway Administration summary names Northview among them. Property records still use the legal name "Northview at Belair Village."
Like the original Levitt sections, Northview uses lettered streets. Nashua Lane, Narrows Lane, Northcote Lane and Nighthawk Lane all start with N, so a street name is usually your first clue. Listing records on those streets show homes built in the mid to late 1970s.
What kinds of homes are in Northview?
Mostly detached Ranchers, split-levels, Colonials and some Cape Cods on lots of roughly a quarter to a third of an acre. Recent examples: a 1978 Rancher on Nashua Lane with about 1,100 square feet on a 0.29 acre lot, and a 1975 Colonial on Narrows Lane with about 2,000 square feet on 0.34 acres. That range, from compact one-level homes to four bedroom Colonials, is why prices here spread out more than the median suggests.

A 7 day median means the first weekend decides most sales. Get a full pre-approval, have your inspector on call, and be ready to write within a day or two of touring. Sellers here can price confidently, but the 100% median sold-to-list ratio across Bowie says buyers are not paying far over asking.
Allen Pond Park, the dog park and the ice arena
Allen Pond Park is the City's 85 acre flagship. It has a 10 acre stocked pond, seasonal boat rentals, six lighted ballfields, a skate park, trails, pavilions, the Robert V. Setera Amphitheater for summer concerts and Opportunity Park, a fully accessible play area. The Bowie Ice Arena inside the park charged Bowie residents $7 and non-residents $9 for public skating in the 2025 to 2026 season (301-809-3090).
The one acre dog park at 3600 Northview Drive has separate areas for all dogs and for small or shy dogs, open 8 a.m. to dusk. The City's rules require current rabies and county license tags and limit owners to two dogs. More in our Bowie parks guide.
