Getting on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling: gates and access
- Arnold Gate (Malcolm X Avenue SE at MacDill Boulevard SE) became the main gate on March 25, 2024 and is open 24/7.
- South Gate (Chappie James Boulevard at Overlook Avenue SW) is open Monday to Thursday 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Firth Sterling Gate opens for rush hours only, with pedestrian turnstiles open 24/7.
- Drivers need a REAL ID plus vehicle registration and insurance. Digital insurance cards are accepted; photos of cards are not.

Getting there without driving
Take the Orange or Silver Line from New Carrollton to L’Enfant Plaza, then the Green Line toward Branch Avenue to Anacostia station. Ask your unit whether a shuttle from Anacostia Metro to the base is currently running.
